Casa Maria, recently restored, is a charming little house which looks out over woodland and countryside on the edge of a tiny, privately owned 17th century Medieval hamlet
Perched on the slope of a hill, just at the foot of the magnificent Sibillini Mountain and near to the Medieval town of Sarnano, the hamlet consists of three houses, two of which are inhabited by the owner and his family.
Casa Maria itself has a comfortable patio of 12 mq for dining outside in the suumer months and which is a perfect spot from which to enjoy the surrounding views towards the Sibillini range of mountains, a wide panoramic vista and veritable feast for the eyes.
The restoration of Casa Maria has been carried out with delicate respect for its original elegance, and the interior retains many original aspects such as its oak beams and terra cotta flooring. The rustic style décor is soft, with pastel-coloured drapes and patterned wallpaper in most rooms.
The house is in two floors giving a total of 86 smq. The first floor is an open space with a kitchen, a comfortable dining and sitting room with an open fireplace. There is a single bedroom on the first floor whilst the main double bedroom is on the second floor and is partially attached to an abandoned granary. Both bedrooms enjoy serene country views.
Surrounded by lovely woodlands and hills, Casa Maria is a perfect place for people who love trekking and walking which they can do directly from the house. It is far away from any main roads but still close to the town of Sarnano, a typically lovely Marchigiana hilltop town which is the gateway to the Sibillini National Park and the winter ski resorts above at Sassotetto as well as being a hub for social activity and which has numerous supermarkets, bars, banks and restaurants.
The university and capital town of Macerata is only half an hour away and is a sophisticated cultural centre famous for its opera season and for international concerts. From here there are buses each day to Rome (as well as trains via Foligno) and this latter town is now joined with the seaside city of Civitanova via the new tunnel opened just this year; a forty minute car journey through the Apennines.
The house is a good investment for a comfortable holiday home and the price includes all of the furniture.
